Angelo Castronovo was born in Sicily, Italy. At the age of 14 he landed in Brooklyn, New York. Shortly there after, Angelo began working in a neighborhood bakery and his culinary interests were sparked. At age 17 he began working in his own family's bakery, baking fresh bread, as well as making cakes and pastries. In 1961 Angelo moved to San Jose and a few years later he met and married his wife, Cheri. Together they have owned and operated a number of successful restaurants including Angelo's (Morgan Hill), Vinces, Angelo's (San Jose) and Gatsby's, to name a few. For nearly 25 years Angelo and Cheri have been the proud proprietors of Emperor Norton's, transforming this once pizza parlor into a great Italian Restaurant and Pizzeria.

A few years ago Angelo and Cheri partnered with their daughter, Susie Hamilton. Susie was raised in, and worked at, the family's restaurants her whole life. She has been a part of the Emperor Norton's establishment since 1991.
The family proudly continues the tradition of providing great food, service and family atmosphere at the neighborhood favorite, Emperor Norton's.
